Gümülcine student Eslem Mehmet graduates top of Marmara University theology faculty
A graduate of Gümülcine Celal Bayar High School, Mehmet was admitted to Marmara University’s Faculty of Theology through the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) scholarship program. Throughout her academic journey, she achieved remarkable success and completed the faculty as the highest-ranking graduate.
During her university years, Mehmet participated in several international academic programs, including the Qatar Mevlana Program in 2023, the University of Jordan Summer School in 2024, and the Mecca Language School in 2025. She also served as Deputy Chairperson of the Istanbul Western Thrace Students Association (BATÖB) for one term.
Mehmet also took part in the 15th Student Symposium of Marmara University’s Faculty of Theology, where she presented a paper titled "From Humanity’s Intellectual Heritage to the ‘Greek Miracle’: Historical Myopia in the Origins of Philosophy."
Her achievement has been welcomed with pride by the Turkish community of Western Thrace, with many congratulating Mehmet and wishing her continued success in her academic and professional career.
