Gümülcine Municipality launches €453,000 road maintenance project for 2025–2027
The contract was signed on Monday, February 2, at Gümülcine City Hall by Mayor Yannis Garanis and Christos Tasopoulos, representative of the joint venture “Tasopulos Hristos E.E. – Tasopulu Evanthia – Joint Venture 18”. The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Yorgos Lazaridis and Director of Technical Services Despina Passou.
Infrastructure Upgrades Across Residential Areas
The project, titled “Internal Road Maintenance of Gümülcine Municipality Residential Areas 2025–2026–2027”, has a total budget of €453,177.32 and a 24-month implementation period starting from the contract date.
Planned works include maintenance and repair of roads within settlements as well as routes connecting residential areas. Damages to concrete and asphalt roads, along with sidewalks, will be repaired to improve safety and accessibility for residents.
Priority Given to Village Communities
In his statement, Mayor Garanis emphasized that the needs of village residents will be treated as a priority, underlining the municipality’s commitment to equal treatment across all communities.
“Residents of our settlements have always been, and will continue to be, citizens with equal rights,” Garanis said. “Through this project, we are responding to part of the needs and demands of the people who live in and sustain our villages. Priority will be given to repairs within settlements and to the roads that connect them. Within the limits of our financial capacity, we are gradually implementing interventions that improve the daily lives of our residents.”
The project forms part of the municipality’s broader effort to upgrade local infrastructure, enhance road safety and improve quality of life across both urban and rural areas.
