Gümülcine Municipality extends fire ban until November 15
Gümülcine Municipality has announced the extension of the fire ban within its borders until November 15, 2024. This decision is part of the measures outlined in Fire Regulation No. 9/2024, which was enforced by Theodoros Kosmidis, the Fire Chief based in Thessaloniki, and is applicable in the regions of Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia, and Thrace.
The municipality and the Fire Department urge citizens to comply with the fire ban and adhere to the established safety measures. The following activities are prohibited until November 15:
- Burning agricultural residues
- Burning of grasslands
- Burning of pasture lands
- Burning of plant waste in piles
- Use of flying lanterns (Sky lanterns)
- Use of solid, liquid, or gas-fueled devices in forested areas, wooded lands, urban green spaces, and agricultural areas
- Lighting fires in open areas for camping and recreational purposes
- Additionally, it is prohibited to burn or dispose of garbage, as well as to leave behind cigarette butts, matches, charcoal, ashes, and other waste throughout the year.
Violations of these regulations may result in administrative fines ranging from €500 to €50,000. In addition to administrative penalties, violators may face criminal liability that could lead to severe consequences.
