Greek MP Özgür Ferhat meets Spartakos Agricultural Association board in Gümülcine
Rhodope Member of Parliament Özgür Ferhat received the newly elected board of the Gümülcine Agricultural Association “Spartakos” at his political office on June 5, 2026.
During the meeting, Ferhat congratulated the association’s new leadership and extended his best wishes to President Nikos Botrochos for his tenure.
The discussion focused on long-standing challenges affecting farmers in the region, particularly delays in OPEKEPE subsidy payments, problems related to cadastral implementation, and disruptions in monitoring systems that have impacted agricultural producers.
Participants also exchanged views on broader structural issues facing the agricultural sector, including rising production costs, economic pressures, and the long-term sustainability of farming activities.
Ferhat said he is closely monitoring the problems faced by farmers and pledged to continue raising their concerns in parliament and with relevant institutions.
He stressed that farmers are a key pillar of regional development and reiterated his commitment to advocating for their interests at both national and institutional levels.
