Gastronomy festival to be held with support from Eastern Macedonia–Thrace regional authority

With the support of the Eastern Macedonia–Thrace (EMT) Regional Authority, the Municipality of Yassıköy will host the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Traditional Dessert Competition on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Yassıköy.

According to the municipality’s announcement, the competition is part of a larger Gastronomy Festival organized under the auspices of the EMT Region, aiming to showcase the area’s rich culinary heritage and local identity through cultural and musical events.

Registration deadline: Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Competition Rules

Each participant may enter with one traditional dessert of their choice.

Desserts must be homemade and presented in four identical portions on white porcelain plates (no plastic, cardboard, or aluminum).

Presentation will take place at the competition venue, and desserts should be attractively arranged and decorated.

Recipes must be traditional; jam is only allowed as a side ingredient, not the main dessert.

Both room-temperature and refrigerated desserts are allowed (a refrigerator will be available on-site).

Contestants must provide a written recipe including their competition number (sent via email by 25/09/2025), full name, dessert name, ingredients, and preparation steps. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

Judging will be conducted in front of the audience by a panel of renowned chefs, assisted by cooks and chefs from the EMT region.

1st Prize: Gold Medal – €1,000
