Gas leak tragedy in Xanthi: One of four children dies

A gas leak in the village of Kocamahmutlu (Magiko) in Xanthi has led to a horrifying tragedy. Four children were found unconscious in their home on Friday morning, with a 16-year-old boy tragically passing away at the Xanthi Hospital.

In the same incident, two sisters, aged 18 and 15, are in intensive care and are being treated with intubation, while the 20-year-old third sister is under observation in the internal medicine department.

It was reported that the children were found unconscious by their mother while sleeping in the lower level of the house. The mother had been sleeping upstairs with their father and discovered the children in an unconscious state when she went to wake them up.

According to reports, the father was unaffected by the incident, and the mother, though hospitalized, is in stable condition.

Police sources have revealed that the room where the children were found lacked ventilation, and that an LPG tank installation had been carried out outside the house the day before the incident. The exact cause of the tragedy will be determined after a detailed investigation.
