Forest fire sparks panic in Koyunköy, İskeçe

A forest fire near the village of Koyunköy, in the İskeçe region, caused alarm among residents early Friday morning.
The blaze broke out around 2:00 a.m., prompting immediate calls from locals to the fire department. Fire crews from İskeçe were quickly dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the flames under control before they could spread further.
The fire, which was visible from a distance during the night, was extinguished without major damage. Authorities described the swift response as a significant success in preventing escalation.
Officials also noted that a similar fire had occurred in the same area just weeks earlier. Residents were urged to exercise caution in and around forested areas to minimize the risk of new outbreaks.
