A forest fire that broke out near the village of Koyunköy in the İskeçe region on Monday night caused concern among residents.

The blaze began at around 10:00 p.m. on August 11 in a wooded area just above the village, close to the rear of the Koyunköy Mosque. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

According to local sources, villagers who spotted the flames immediately alerted the fire department. A total of 23 firefighters, eight vehicles, and a foot patrol team were dispatched to the scene.

Some residents, alarmed by the sight of the flames in the night sky, took to the streets to assist firefighters in containing the blaze.

The İskeçe Fire Department launched a large-scale response from the outset, quickly deploying all available units to the area. Thanks to these efforts, the fire was brought under control before it could spread to the village or surrounding forested areas.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
