Fishing competition organised at Kocakum beach in Komotini

Members of the ‘Pame Psarema’ group of amateur fishermen competed to be the best in the competition organised on the Kocakum beach of Komotini.

Many amateur fishermen from different villages participated in the competition organised by the ‘Pame Psarema’ Fishermen Group on Saturday night, 24 August 2024. The competition organised on Kocakum beach attracted the attention of amateur fishermen. 

The competition started at 20.00 on Saturday evening and ended at 08.00 on Sunday morning. Fishermen threw their fishing rods into the sea to catch more fish and the biggest fish during the night.

Some of the competitors had to leave the competition at midnight due to bad luck, while others took part in the whole of the specified time. The winners of the competition were awarded with trophies. The competitors who won trophies were as follows:

1- Murat Küçük

2- Mehmet Serdar

3- Nevzat Mulazim

Informing MİLLET about the competition, Rıdvan Bekir, President of the ‘Pame Psarema’ Fishermen Group, said that the competition, which was organised for the first time, was successful.

Stating that amateur fishermen from different villages participated in the competition and the interest shown was satisfactory, Bekir said: ‘Many amateur fishermen from different villages participated in the competition. We organised the competition at Kocakum beach within the borders of Komotini Municipality. The participation to the competition was quite good. I would like to thank all the amateur fishermen who participated in the competition that we organised for the first time through you and our sponsors CAPTAN HOOK, Dr. Mehmet Mehmet, Accountant Caner Ahmet, Bekir Farm, Power Auto Tyre Omer and Cemil partners, Koto Gonia and Lütfü Ahmet who contributed to the organisation of the competition. We hope to repeat this competition in September 2025.’

The fish caught by the competitors in the fishing competition were presented to the families in need.
