A fishing ban will be in effect from April 15 to May 30, 2025, in order to protect the reproduction of fish populations and other aquatic organisms in the surface waters of the Evros region.

A fishing ban will be in effect from April 15 to May 30, 2025, in order to protect the reproduction of fish populations and other aquatic organisms in the surface waters of the Evros region.
This decision has been communicated to all relevant authorities and to the residents of Evros, with the aim of ensuring the conservation of the region’s aquatic biodiversity.
The fishing ban applies to both professional and amateur fishing, using any means and tools. The areas affected by this ban include the following:
- The entire stretch of the Evros River and its tributaries Ardas and Erithropotamos.
- The Evros Delta.
- The Alexandroupolis reservoir.
- The Komaron Dam lake.
- The Therapeiou and Petroto dams.
- The Kavissos Dam.
- The streams of Maistros, Loutrou, Ardaniou, Provatona, Mavrorema, and Diavolorema.
- The canals Pythiou and T16 in Orestiada.
- The small dams of Alepochori, Asvestadon, Vryssikon, Doxas, Metaxadon, and Paliouriou.
- The Gourounorema Asimenio.
- Generally, canals and other water formations in the area.
The penalties for violating the ban include fines, revocation of fishing licenses, seizure of illegally caught fish, and confiscation of the fishing tools and devices used.
