Fire in Yassıköy causes great fear
A fire broke out in Yassıköy around 19.30 yesterday. The fire broke out in the forest area close to the houses and caused anxiety among the residents of the village.
According to the information received, the fire, which was caused by a mentally unstable citizen residing in the village, was intervened by the fire extinguishing vehicles of Yassıköy Municipality and Komotini Fire Department.
Houses in the area close to the fire were evacuated as a precaution. Early intervention brought the fire under control before it spread further in the forest area and threatened the houses.
The fire was not only fought from land. Although the fire was under control, the fire extinguishing aircraft and helicopter that went to the region released water over the burning area from the air.
The area will be inspected by the fire brigade for a while to make sure that the fire is under control.
