The Friendship Equality Peace Party (DEB), the political party of Western Thrace Turks, conducted a survey with farmers in the provinces of Gümülcine (Komotini), İskeçe (Xanthi) and Meriç (Evros), where minority people live intensely.
A written statement was made by the party regarding the survey, which lasted for 3 months and participated by 2031 farmers. It was also stated that the fact that the average age of our farmers is over 50 has revealed the reason why our young people migrate or seek for different jobs due to dissatisfaction with farming.
The results are as follows:
-Does your income from cotton or tobacco provide your livelihood? 9% NO, 91% YES
-As a minority, do you think you have been subjected to any kind of discrimination by ELGA? 5% NO, 23% PARTLY YES, 72% YES
-Do you believe that the economy of the region is equated with the country in general? 83% NO, 12% PARTLY YES, 5% YES
-Do you believe you are getting rewarded for your effort? 91% NO, 5% PARTLY YES, 4% YES
-Are you satisfied with the compensations provided by the state as a result of natural disasters? 90% YES, 10% NO
