FEP Party offers condolences for Eslem and calls for accountability: ‘Negligence is clear and unacceptable’

The Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party has issued a statement expressing deep sorrow and demanding accountability following the tragic death of 12-year-old Eslem on August 1, 2025, at Imaret Beach in Rhodope Province — an incident that has plunged the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace into mourning.

In its August 7 press release, the FEP Party emphasized that Eslem’s loss is not only a devastating blow to her family but to the entire community, pointing to serious negligence behind the tragedy.

“Losing a child, who was clinging to life with all her hopes and dreams, under the shadow of negligence and inadequacies has left a deep wound in our conscience,” the statement read.

‘Negligence is clear and unacceptable’
Party officials said they had closely monitored developments from the outset but delayed their statement due to widespread misinformation.

“The negligence behind this shocking incident is clear and unacceptable. The deactivation of vital systems at the time of the incident clearly reveals the carelessness of the responsible authorities,” the statement added.

Commitment to follow the case
The FEP Party stressed that those individuals or institutions responsible must be held accountable, pledging:

“As the Friendship, Equality, Peace Party, we declare to the public that we will follow this process through to the end.”

Call for permanent and effective measures
The party urged both local and central authorities to take permanent and effective measures to ensure such tragedies never happen again.

The statement concluded with condolences to Eslem’s family:

“In this indescribable pain, our hearts beat with theirs.”
