FEP Party: “Ensuring Economic Equality is our demand!”

FEP Party stated that the demand of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority is the fair distribution of all investment and development incentives in the region.

FEP Party’s press release regarding the “economic equality in the region” delivered early this morning is as follow:

 “As the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority, families who have been struggling with their livelihoods for many years find the solution to migrate, so our population is gradually decreasing. According to the data of ELSTAT, the official statistical institution of our country, East Macedonia - Thrace Region, where our minority lives intensively, was the second poorest region in Greece, while Xanthi was the poorest province.

Thereupon, the new 'Development Law' was approved in our country on the same days and incentive rates were determined.

In the aforementioned law, the Rhodopi province, where the minority population constitutes the majority, and Xanthi province, where the minority population constitutes almost half, receive less grant support than Evros (Meriç) province, seems to be an act of dragging the economically deplorable minority to the bottom.

The demand of our party and the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace is the fair distribution of all investment and development incentives in the region. Every political, social and economic discriminatory policy to be made harms the region and undermines the right to equal living conditions.”
