Fener Camping Beach loses its “Blue Flag” status for 2025

The camping beach in Fener, located in Rhodope Prefecture, is among 12 beaches across the country that lost their “Blue Flag” distinction for 2025.

Following mid-season inspections, the Fener beach was removed from the list due to organizational shortcomings and non-compliance with program criteria throughout the swimming season. Officials cited key deficiencies in areas such as accessibility, public information, and safety measures.

Under the international Blue Flag program, beaches must meet rigorous standards in environmental management, water quality, visitor services, and safety. If a site is found lacking during inspections, the award can be revoked without prior warning.

The Fener beach’s exclusion reflects the strict oversight of the program and serves as a reminder of the importance of continuous compliance to maintain this globally recognized environmental quality label.
