Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe condemns attack on Hürriyet Mosque in İskeçe
In a written statement, ABTTF described the act as a deliberate provocation against both a place of worship and the Western Thrace Turkish community, calling for an immediate investigation and accountability.
“An Unacceptable Attack During Ramadan”
ABTTF President Halit Habip Oğlu denounced the incident in strong terms, emphasizing the symbolic weight of the attack during the holy month of Ramadan.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack carried out against our mosque during the blessed month of Ramadan,” he said. “This disgraceful act targeting our sacred place of worship and the Western Thrace Turkish community aims to undermine the climate of peace and harmony in our region. It is absolutely unacceptable.”
Call for Swift Investigation
The federation urged authorities to promptly clarify the circumstances of the incident, identify those responsible, and bring them before justice.
ABTTF stressed that attacks on religious sites not only threaten communal coexistence but also risk escalating tensions in a historically sensitive region.
Greek authorities have not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident at the time of publication.
