The Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Gender Equality Commission, with support from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Presidency, is organizing an event in Alexandroupoli to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, 2024.
Event in Alexandroupoli to raise awareness about violence against women

The Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Gender Equality Commission, with support from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Presidency, is organizing an event in Alexandroupoli to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, 2024.

Event Details
Titled “I Sing Fearlessly”, the event will take place on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 AM in Lighthouse Square, Alexandroupoli. In case of adverse weather, the event will be moved to the regional government building.

The program will include performances and contributions from:

Music schools of Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Kavala, and Drama
Systemic psychotherapist Anna Tsiakiri
Social workers Korina Goukidou and Arsenia Malakozi from the Sakellaropoulos Social Psychiatry Association
The "Synepivates" theater group
The Alexandroupoli Municipality Women's Counseling Center
Thrace SOS Children’s Village and its Disabled Daycare Center
The event is being organized in collaboration with Alexandroupoli Municipality, with additional support from the Hellenic Red Cross Alexandroupoli branch and local traffic police.

Call to Action
Commission President Vasiliki Pavlakaki emphasized the importance of collective action, stating:

"Violence against women is not an individual problem but a societal wound that requires collective effort. Let us work together for a society free from violence, one that embraces equality and empowers all."

The event will conclude with a march along Vasilios Alexandros Street, ending back at Lighthouse Square. Organizers invite the public to join in supporting women’s rights and promoting awareness of gender equality.
