€5.5 million allocated for New Primary School in İskeçe’s Serinmahalle Neighborhood

The Greek Minister of Interior, Theodoros Livanios, has approved a €5.5 million budget for the construction of a new primary school in the Serinmahalle neighborhood of İskeçe. The decision is considered a significant step toward improving educational conditions for students in the region.
The new school building aims to provide a modern learning environment for students of the 20th Serinmahalle Primary School, who are currently studying in 13 prefabricated classrooms. The project is expected to benefit approximately 400 students, with completion planned by the end of 2027.
"İskeçe’s Mayor Played a Key Role"
İskeçe's Primary Education Director, Evi Stilianidou, credited İskeçe Mayor Stratos Kontos for his substantial contribution to expediting the process. "This is a long-awaited development for the local community and the education sector. Thanks to the efforts of our mayor, we have achieved a positive outcome. Our 400 students will now have the opportunity to study in a modern building instead of prefabricated classrooms," Stilianidou stated.
Initiative Launched by Previous Administration
Efforts to establish a new school in Serinmahalle began during the previous municipal administration. Former Mayor Manolis Tsepelis had discussed the project with then-Deputy Minister of Education, Angelos Syrigos. The idea of constructing a new school building in the area had received broad support from municipal council groups and educators alike.
