Greece presented a major development plan for the Rhodope region in northeastern Greece, with total funding exceeding €1.1 billion.
Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogiorgis outlined the roadmap in Gümülcine (Komotini), marking the end of a regional consultation tour across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The plan includes €950 million for infrastructure and €197 million in business support, alongside projects such as irrigation works, road links to Bulgaria, a gas compression station by DESFA, and a new hospital funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
Officials said around 60% of proposals by the Interparty Committee for Thrace are already implemented or underway.
