€ 1.3 million from the NSRF for flood protection projects in Komotini

The northern part of the city is shielded with the construction of two canals with a total length of 502 meters

The allocation of 1.3 million euros from the NSRF for the construction of flood protection projects by the Municipality of Komotini in the northern part of the city was approved by the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Mr. Christos Metios.

The interventions of the Municipality financed by the Region will be made in the area of ​​the firing range and in the area of ​​the Camp "Lgou (PZ) Parashou".

A 1.5 km long concrete drainage ditch will be constructed in the area of ​​the firing range, while two canals with a total length of 502 meters will be constructed in the area of ​​the Camp.

With the construction of the project, flood phenomena will be addressed that often occur in the two areas during bad weather and which create problems throughout the northern part of the city.

On this occasion, Mr. Metios visited the area of ​​the shooting range with the Mayor of Komotini Mr. Giannis Garanis and the Deputy Regional Governor of Rodopi Mr. Nikos Tsalikidis.  He was informed about the interventions that will be carried out by the Deputy Mayor for Planning, of the Municipality of Komotini Mr. Dimitris Karastavrou.
