Greek police have arrested 18 individuals in a coordinated anti-drug operation across the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as part of intensified efforts to combat narcotics distribution.

Greek police have arrested 18 individuals in a coordinated anti-drug operation across the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as part of intensified efforts to combat narcotics distribution.

The arrests, carried out between March 23 and April 3, involved multiple law enforcement units and resulted in 14 separate criminal cases related to drug law violations.

Package Deliveries Lead to Arrests in İskeçe
In two notable cases in İskeçe, officers from the local narcotics unit apprehended suspects who were caught receiving drug shipments via parcel delivery.

  • On April 1, a suspect was arrested while collecting a package containing 50.8 grams of raw cannabis
  • On April 3, another individual was detained after receiving parcels containing 130.2 grams of cannabis and 6.2 grams of cannabis oil

All substances were seized by authorities.

Widespread Operations Across Multiple Cities
Additional arrests were made across several cities:

  • Dedeağaç: 2 individuals
  • Gümülcine: 6 individuals
  • Kavala: 2 individuals
  • Drama: 6 individuals

Authorities conducted extensive searches in homes and on suspects, uncovering and confiscating:

  • 42.6 grams of raw cannabis
  • Small quantities of heroin
  • Processed cannabis and synthetic drug known as “bonsai”
  • A cannabis cigarette
  • Ongoing Investigations

The cases have been forwarded to the relevant public prosecutors, while preliminary investigations were carried out by specialized narcotics and criminal investigation units across the region.

Greek authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing targeted operations aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks and limiting the spread of illegal substances.
