Regional health authorities have been placed on alert following a surge in gastroenteritis cases over the weekend on the island of Semadirek.
According to local media, more than 15 visitors—mostly staying at camping sites—were admitted to the Semadirek Health Center with severe gastroenteritis symptoms.
The Regional Public Health Directorate of Meriç has been notified, and samples have been sent to laboratories to determine the cause.
It remains unclear whether the outbreak is linked to drinking water or poor hygiene conditions at camping facilities. Officials also warned that the actual number of cases could be significantly higher, as some affected individuals may not have sought medical care.
