Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos told a television channel that the details of the 140-kilometer new fence to be built on the border of Meriç (Evros) will be announced shortly.
Stating that their primary goal is the security of the border, Theodorikakos stated that they constantly raise the issue of immigration on an international scale and that they continue to work with FRONTEX.
Touching on the “Akritas” project, Theodorikakos said that the border security has been increased thanks to the project carried out by the police and the army.
Theodorikakos said that approximately 1,500 immigrants are trying to cross the border every day, and the number exceeded 160 thousand this year.
