Dedeağaç: Patient falls from ambulance stretcher – Investigation and contract termination with private company

An internal administrative investigation has been launched, and the contract with a private ambulance company has been immediately terminated by the management of the University Hospital of Dedeağaç, following a shocking incident in which a patient fell from a stretcher that was ejected from an ambulance.
The incident occurred yesterday morning at the Chili traffic lights area of Dedeağaç, when an ambulance operated by a private company based in Dedeğaç—which had a contract with the University Hospital for secondary patient transfers—was transporting an 81-year-old woman who had just been discharged from the hospital and was returning home.
As the ambulance started moving, the stretcher became unsecured, causing the rear door to open and the stretcher with the patient to roll out onto the road—fortunately in an upright position. Luckily, no other vehicles were following closely behind, preventing a more serious accident.
A hospital ambulance quickly arrived at the scene, collected the patient, and safely transported her to her home in Dedeağaç.
The hospital administration announced that, for the time being, all similar patient transfers to residences will be handled exclusively by the hospital’s own ambulance service, until further notice.
