A ceremony was held at the office of Maronya-Şapçı Mayor Apostolos Ioannou to mark the signing of the contract, which was executed between Mayor Ioannou and the contracting firm.

This project aims to ensure the complete and integrated management of wastewater from the Aşağıköy settlement, strengthening environmental protection and improving the quality of life for local residents.

The project includes the construction of a sewer network that will directly collect wastewater from households and transport it to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP), thereby eliminating existing septic tanks.

The primary objective of this initiative is to facilitate integrated management of Aşağıköy's wastewater and transition from outdated septic systems to a modern sewer network. The new system will enable the direct collection of wastewater, allowing for its transfer to the Wastewater Treatment Plant for modern and comprehensive treatment.

Implementing this project will yield numerous benefits, including environmental improvement, enhanced quality of life for residents, and protection of groundwater sources currently affected by septic leaks. The intervention will ensure complete wastewater treatment, leading to significant gains in public health and environmental hygiene.

Mayor Apostolos Ioannou commented on the contract signing, stating, “The signing of this project's contract is an important step towards modernizing our municipality's infrastructure. It is a strategic intervention that will improve our citizens' daily lives and protect the natural environment, responding to modern needs and demands.”

The project is set to commence and be completed swiftly according to the planned timeline. This initiative forms a significant part of the overall strategic plan for the modernization of essential infrastructure by the Maronya-Sapes Municipality.
