Cleanup work begins in stream beds of Hacımustafaköy

Stream bed cleanup efforts have officially begun in Hacımustafaköy, a village located within the jurisdiction of the Maronia–Sapes Municipality. The initiative is part of a broader project led by the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Administration, aiming to improve environmental conditions and reduce flood risk in the area.

The long-neglected stream beds, which run along both sides of the village, are being cleared as part of the operation. The project seeks to minimize the risk of flooding and enhance public health and hygiene in the village.

Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet, Deputy Regional Governor for Agriculture and Livestock of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, visited the site to inspect the ongoing work. He shared the following message on his social media account:

“The cleanup of the stream beds in Hacımustafaköy, which have caused flooding for many years, has officially begun. We wish this effort brings benefits to our community.”

The project has been welcomed by local residents, who have long awaited action to address seasonal flooding and environmental degradation.
