The Çınar Association condemned the destruction of the Horozlu (Petinos) Turkish cemetery by the Bulustra (Bulustra) Municipality administration in İskeçe (Xanthi).
In the written statement made by the Çınar Association, the following statements were included:
"We have learned that the Turkish cemetery of Horozlu, located in the Bulustra Municipality of İskeçe, was destroyed by the order of the Mayor, Giorgos Tsitiridis.
We consider the last massacre in Horozlu, which is understood to have been carried out as a reflection of an irresponsible and bigoted mentality that will disturb the peace of the region, as an attack on our holy places and strongly condemn it.
It is also a fact that this attack, which took place at a time when Turkish-Greek relations were moving in a positive direction, did not serve the environment of friendship and peace.
We hope that those responsible for this disastrous attack, which is clearly a crime under international law, are brought to justice and given the punishment they deserve. We also hope that necessary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening."
