Çınar Association, one of the important non-governmental organizations of Western Thrace, has released a statement about the provocation of burning the Holy Quran by Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right Tight Direction Party (Stram Kurs) in Sweden, near the Turkish Embassy in Stockhom.
In the statement, "Despite all the warnings of our homeland Türkiye, we strongly condemn the vile and barbaric attack against our holy book, the Qur'an, in Sweden. This anti-Islamic provocative action that targets Muslims and insults our sacred values is permitted under the name of freedom of expression. We condemn it." it was said.
Emphasizing that the provocative act is "a hate crime", the statement said, "This despicable act is also another indication of the alarming level reached by Islamophobia, racist and discriminatory trends in Europe." emphasis was made.
"We call on the Swedish authorities to take necessary action and take concrete measures against the perpetrators of this hate crime," the statement said.
