Checks at the Kipi customs border station will be further intensified, both with more staff and more equipment, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chryssochoidis said on Friday during a visit to Evros, at the borders with Turkiye.
The customs station is the official entrance to and exit from Greece and Europe, the minister underlined.
Chryssochoidis said he had an extensive conversation with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) - which oversees customs stations - and Greek police "to intensify checks, acquire more means, more staff, so that this border, which is also the official entrance to and exit from Europe can truly carry out substantial inspections for the country's safety."
