Business community calls for immediate restoration of toll exemptions in Thrace
Stelios Kafounis, President of the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), has called on the Greek government to restore toll-road exemptions for businesses in Thrace. The request was conveyed in a formal letter addressed to Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas and Alternate Minister Giorgos Kotsiras.
According to the confederation, businesses in Thrace face unique logistical and transportation challenges due to their geographical location. The continuation of toll costs, it argues, places additional pressure on enterprises already dealing with rising operational expenses and competitive disadvantages.
The organization stressed that reinstating the exemption would help strengthen regional economic activity, support local entrepreneurship and improve the competitiveness of businesses throughout Thrace.
The appeal comes amid ongoing discussions over regional development policies and measures aimed at supporting economic growth in border regions of northern Greece.
