Bülent Ekrem to compete for a seat in the German Parliament

Bülent Ekrem originally from Western Thrace was nominated as a parliamentary candidate from Germany's Erlangen - Höchstadt constituency.

At the delegate meeting held in Erlangen, Germany on December 6, 2022, 44-year-old Western Thraceian Bülent Ekrem, who received 90 percent of the votes of the delegates, was nominated as a parliamentary candidate for the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) from the Erlangen - Höchstadt constituency.

WESTER THRACE TURKSIH ORIGIN CANDIDATE

Bülent Ekrem, the only Turkish-origin parliamentary candidate who received 5 percent of the total votes of the FDP in the region in the last general election campaign in 2018 and the second best result in twenty years, said the following about the election:

“With the experience gained from the last election campaign, the knowledge we have gained from opposition work and government work in Berlin, I am very motivated and look forward to the next election year with confidence.

We urgently need a change in renewable energies, economy, migration and above all education policy.
Burial in Germany has been on the agenda since 2009. Finally, it came up again in Bavaria when I was on the State Commission on Immigration and Minorities. For this, I have personally consulted and attempted many times. Ultimately, this law has now become legal, with the support of the Socialists as we liberals.

There were no temporary classrooms in our area. Children who immigrated to Germany from Türkiye and Greece were sent directly to regular classes regardless of their success in the country they came from. I was against it. Because children had problems with German language, they either completed the school year as unsuccessful students or were sent to schools for the mentally handicapped.

In the end, we were the ones who said stop to this, and my work yielded results. 

Now, new immigrants learn German language for a year and prepare for the school and many students successfully pass these classes. They get good results for university or a better job.

We came to the fore with our actions, not just words, and of course, the support of Western Thrace society in Germany, even if they don’t vote, their support was a very good motivation for us.

2023 will be our year, we need to work hard.” he said.
