BTTDD Bursa branch hosts traditional aşure gathering
The program began with a mevlit ceremony before the aşure distribution. Participants commemorated Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the late leader of Western Thrace Turks, on the 31st anniversary of his passing with prayers. The event also honored Mustafa Cambaz, a photojournalist from Menetler village of Gümülcine who was killed during the July 15 coup attempt in Türkiye, with a recitation of the Quran and prayers.
The gathering attracted significant participation from Bursa's political representatives and public officials. Among those attending were BTTDD Bursa Branch President Hasan Karaömer, AK Party Bursa MPs Mustafa Yavuz and Ahmet Kılıç, AK Party Bursa Deputy Provincial Chairman Cem Kürşat Hasanoğlu, Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Numan Çakır, former Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar, who previously served as president of BTTDD Bursa Branch, and numerous representatives from local institutions and civil society organizations.
Following the ceremony, protocol members distributed aşure to residents and met with members of the community. The event highlighted messages of unity, solidarity and togetherness, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of Western Thrace Turks.
BTTDD Bursa Branch officials stated that the traditional aşure gathering continues to bring community members together around the same table each year and expressed their gratitude to all participants and guests.
