Beloved figure Hafız Mürteza from Şahin village has passed away
Hafız Mürteza Çavuşoğlu, a beloved figure of the village Şahin in İskeçe, known as the heart of Western Thrace, passed away on Monday (April 6th) by succumbing to the relentless disease he had been fighting for months.

Hafız Mürteza Efendi known as Hodja Mürteza in Şahin village, who was a beloved person with his humorous attitudes, pleasant conversation and unusual ideas, passed away at the age of 68.

Mürteza Hodja was such a person that drew tulips on the streets of Şahin, made happy the kids with the cotton candies made by himself, wrote and read poems and got respect by everyone. One of the most popular poems of Mürteza Hodja is the "Paşam (My Pasha)" poem which was written for the conqueror of the village Lala Şahin Pasha (1330-1388).
