Attention beekeepers: Municipality of Myki issues fire prevention advisory

As the new fire prevention season begins, running from May 1 to October 31, 2025, the Municipality of Myki has issued a notice urging all beekeepers in the area to exercise extra caution when smoking their hives. Beekeepers are reminded to follow all necessary fire safety measures during this period to prevent potential fire hazards.

The municipality highlights the importance of adhering to the guidelines outlined in Article 11 of Firefighting Regulation No. 9/2024 (Official Government Gazette 2387B/22-04-2024). This regulation outlines the necessary precautions and tools required to prevent and avoid the outbreak of fires in forested, pasture, agricultural, park, and urban areas, including special protection zones and areas near these regions, as well as in residential plots.

Beekeepers are urged to take these precautions seriously to ensure fire safety in the region during the high-risk summer months.
