Alexandroupoli: Passenger traffic at "Dimokritos" airport soared this summer

Passenger traffic at Alexandroupoli's "Dimokritos" airport saw a 4.5% increase compared to 2023 during the summer season.
According to airport director Stelios Zantanidis, who spoke to ERT Orestiada, from June to August—the peak tourist season—the airport handled around 40,000 to 45,000 passengers each month. Most of the traffic came from flights to and from Athens, but significant numbers were also recorded on routes to and from Heraklion, which concluded on September 7. Additionally, the Larnaca route performed well, and while the Sitia route had smaller numbers, it also contributed positively to the overall passenger traffic.
