Aid from Western Thrace Turks brings relief in Gaza
Humanitarian aid collected by the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace has been delivered to Gaza, providing thousands of people with hot meals. The initiative was organized through the cooperation of the Çınar Association and the UK-based IHH-UK Foundation.
The “Gaza Food Aid” campaign was launched alongside Çınar Association’s Uganda 2025 Qurban (Sacrifice) Campaign and was supported by donors from İskeçe, Gümülcine, Dedeağaç, and across Western Thrace, as well as contributions from other parts of Europe and around the world.
Through IHH-UK’s coordination on the ground, hot meals were distributed to Palestinians struggling with hunger in Gaza. IHH-UK President Ali Tahir Canbaz stated on social media:
“With the generosity of our donors, and contributions from Western Thrace via Çınar Association, we have delivered hot meals to our brothers and sisters in Gaza—and we will continue to do so. We are providing not only food but also moral support. Anyone can take part in this humanitarian effort by donating.”
Çınar Association officials emphasized that, thanks to IHH-UK’s strong organizational presence in Gaza, the aid was safely delivered to those in need. “As Western Thrace Turks, we stand with our Palestinian brothers and sisters,” they said, stressing that the assistance is of vital importance for the people of Gaza amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.aa
