500-year-old tradition continued in Kozlardere
The Kozlardere Sacrifice event, which could not be held for two years due to the pandemic, took place on Sunday, July 3rd. Hundreds of cognates from different villages from the Rhodope region attended the religious event.
The Kozlardere Sacrifice event, which has a 500-year history, was held again after a two-year hiatus, and it was instrumental in bringing together hundreds of compatriots and relieving their longing.
Organized under the leadership of the Kozlardere Board of Trustees, with the great support of the village people and especially the youth, the event was held with great success.
Türkiye's Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu and the Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif did not leave the people of Kozlardere, who have made great efforts to keep the centuries-old tradition alive, on this meaningful day.
Türkiye’s Consul General Murat Ömeroğlu, who participated in the religious event, congratulated the Kozlardere Board of Trustees, the village people and the youth, who kept the tradition of Sacrifice alive, and greeted the cognates participating in the religious ceremony and longed for it.
The Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini, Mufti İbrahim Şerif, gave a sermon to his compatriots until the time of the noon prayer after the Mevlid-i Şerif read in the mosque, the hymns and the prayer. Then he led the noon prayer.
Hundreds of people who attended the religious ceremony listened to the sermon of Mufti Sharif, prayers were said, and after the noon prayer in congregation, pilaf with meat and ayran were served to everyone who attended the event.
