16th Dr. Sadık Ahmet football tournament concludes with Bekirli and Çepelli Kartalları crowned champions
The 16th Dr. Sadık Ahmet Football Tournament, held in memory of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the founding leader of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party and a prominent figure of the Turkish community of Western Thrace, concluded with the final matches at the Çepelli village stadium.
Organized by the Young Academicians Community (GAT), the annual tournament brought together athletes and football fans from villages across Western Thrace, highlighting friendship, solidarity and fair play throughout the competition.
Bekirli claimed the championship title in the senior category, while Çepelli Kartalları emerged as winners in the children's category.
Following the finals, an award ceremony was held where the winning teams received trophies and medals. All participating teams were also recognized for their sportsmanship, with organizers emphasizing the tournament's role in promoting unity through sport.
In a written statement issued after the tournament, the Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party congratulated Bekirli and Çepelli Kartalları on their victories and praised all participating teams for their determination, fair play and commitment to preserving the legacy of Dr. Sadık Ahmet.
The party also expressed its appreciation to the Young Academicians Community (GAT), the organizing committee and everyone who contributed to the successful staging of the event.
Held annually, the Dr. Sadık Ahmet Football Tournament remains one of the most significant sporting events strengthening unity and solidarity within the Turkish community of Western Thrace.
