12-year-old girl from Demircili village dies in drowning incident
A tragic incident occurred at İmaret Beach involving a 12-year-old girl, E.N., from Demircili village in the Rodopi region, who lost her life while swimming.
According to reports, the girl went out to sea on an inflatable boat in the afternoon. However, due to strong winds, she was swept out into open waters, losing control of the boat.
A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched immediately after the Coast Guard was notified. The operation involved Coast Guard boats and two helicopters.
At around 6:30 PM, E.N. was found unconscious but still alive. She was given first aid on-site and transported to Gumuldjina State Hospital.
Despite all medical efforts, she sadly passed away at the hospital.
The incident has caused deep sorrow throughout Demircili village and the wider Rodopi region.
