İskeçe Mufti’s Office to recite hatim for July 15 martyrs
The Mufti’s Office of İskeçe has announced that Hatim recitations (complete readings of the Quran) will be held in memory of those who lost their lives during the failed coup attempt in Türkiye on July 15, 2016, as well as for all martyrs.
In a public statement, the Mufti’s Office said that the initiative was first announced during the Friday sermon on July 11, and the collective prayer (du'a) for the completed Hatim recitations will take place on Tuesday, July 15, after the night prayer (Isha) in all mosques in İskeçe and surrounding villages.
In addition, Salawat (Islamic call to prayer and remembrance) will also be recited in all mosques on Tuesday night.
“As the Mufti’s Office of İskeçe, we remember with mercy and gratitude those who lost their lives during the FETÖ-led coup attempt in our homeland Türkiye on July 15, 2016, as well as all martyrs. We pray that their ranks are elevated and their resting places are in paradise. May their souls be blessed,” the statement read.
This commemorative event reflects the strong emotional and spiritual connection between the Muslim community of Western Thrace and Türkiye, underscoring a shared sense of loss and solidarity.
