Gümülcine: March in support of the oppressed Palestinian people
A march was organised by the Association of Private Sector Clerks of Komotini, the Rhodope Peace Commission, the Rhodope Women's Association and the Association of Students of Community Service in support of the oppressed Palestinian people in Komotini at 18.00 this evening.
About a thousand people came together in Komotini city square. The support march, organised by Turks and Greeks together, started from the city square.
The participants of the march carried banners against Israel and chanted slogans such as Freedom for Palestine, Down with Israel, Get Out of Palestine.
The march organised in support of Palestine was accompanied by representatives of the Communist Party of Greece and the Antarsia Party, while the absence of representatives from the major parties was noteworthy.
The support march, which started from the city square accompanied by police officers, lasted for about one and a half hours.
The march of the crowd chanting slogans in front of the Presidency of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Komotini Municipality building was completed in the square again without any incident.
