A demonstration in support of Palestine was organised in Xanthi with the initiative of the youth of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority. The action was also attended by the Mufti's Office of Xanthi, Xanthi Turkish Union, Higher Education Association, Greek students and citizens affiliated to leftist organisations.

Thousands of children and civilians lost their lives as a result of Israel's inhumane attacks on Gaza. While the massacre has been going on in full violence for days, reactions from the world continue to rise. Different non-governmental organisations and political groups organised marches in many cities of Greece. In the past days, marches in support of Palestine were organised in Xanthi and Komotini and Israel's atrocities and massacres were condemned.

While the massacres of Israel continue with all its violence, it was announced that a bigger march will be organised this time with the initiative of a group of Muslim Turkish youth in Xanthi.

The demonstration in Xanthi started at 12.00 pm with the gathering and chanting of slogans in the town centre. "No to genocide! Freedom for Palestine", "Down with Israel", "Terrorist is the one who bombs hospitals and kills innocent people". Then about 2 thousand people marched through the central streets of Xanthi with slogans in Turkish and Greek. The march ended in the city centre, which was also the starting point.

The demonstration was supported by the participation of SYRIZA Turkish Minority MPs from Rhodope and Xanthi, municipal and state councillors and a large number of compatriots.
