Historic Kırkpınar oil wrestling festival to begin in Edirne

The 665th Historic Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Festival will be held in Edirne between June 29 and July 5, continuing one of Türkiye's oldest sporting traditions.
Organized by the Edirne Municipality, the event will take place at the Sarayiçi wrestling grounds and is listed by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
According to the festival schedule, wrestler registrations will be held on July 2, followed by the official opening ceremony and parade on July 3. Wrestling competitions will continue throughout the festival, with the chief wrestler final and award ceremony scheduled for July 5.
