Istanbul Police Department carried out an important operation against international migrant smuggling. Greek national human smuggler Paraskevi G. was caught red-handed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

The teams at the airport detected that Taimaa C., a foreign national travelling from Beirut to Türkiye, and Paraskevi G., a foreign national travelling from Athens, met in the transit area.

The teams detained the suspects after determining that the two went to the toilet together.

It is also learnt that Taimaa C.'s onward flight was to Sharjah and Paraskevi G.'s onward flight was to Stuttgart, Germany.

Taimaa C. was found in possession of a false passport issued with the identity details of the smuggler Paraskevi G. and a ticket for the Saw-Stuttgart flight.

In her statement, Taimaa C said that she met with Paraskevi G., whom she met and agreed on the internet to go to Germany, and received the fake passport and ticket in the toilet.

Taimaa C., who had no right to enter Türkiye and was deported, was processed as "Suspect" for the offence of "Forgery of Official Documents" and as "Victim" for the offence of "Smuggling of Migrants".

Greek national Paraskevi G., who was detained and whose mobile phone was confiscated for examination, was taken into custody and legal action was taken as "Suspect" for the offence of "Smuggling of Migrants".
