Greek Press: Erdogan's eyes on the big game

The article, entitled 'Erdogan's eye on the big game', expressed Türkiye's interest in leading a multinational force for Gaza. It noted that for centuries the Ottoman Empire was a safe haven for Europe's persecuted Jews and that Türkiye was not affected by anti-Semitism.
The Greek press made striking assessments about the Gaza diplomacy conducted by Turkish President Erdoğan.
In the article where the details of Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis' visit to Ankara are discussed, President Erdoğan's reaction to Mitsotakis' statement that "Hamas is a terrorist organisation" is also included.
"UNLIKE GREECE, ERDOGAN'S FOREIGN POLICY IS A REGIONAL POWER"
"Erdoğan's eyes are on the big game", the article said, explaining that unlike Greece, President Erdoğan's foreign policy has a regional power.
"NO NATO OR EU COUNTRY WANTS A GAZA ADVENTURE"
The Greek press pointed out that the United States was interested in a plan to create a multinational force to administer Gaza with the participation of Arab states, and that NATO and none of the European Union member states were willing to get involved in an adventure in Gaza.
"ERDOGAN'S EYES ON THE BIG GAME"
"As the leader of the only Muslim country in NATO with a centuries-old presence in the region, President Erdoğan is clearly interested in the larger game being played in the Middle East," the report said.
"THE ONLY TARGET OF PRESIDENT ERDOGAN'S CRITICISM IS THE PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL"
Noting that for centuries the Ottoman Empire was a safe haven for persecuted Jews in Europe, it said: "Likewise, modern Türkiye has not been affected by antisemitism. The only target of President Erdoğan's criticism is the Israeli prime minister. It remains to be seen what will happen next," the statement said.
