DCT Trading launches licensed cotton warehouse investment in Şanlıurfa

DCT Trading, owned by Western Thracian businessman Levent Sadık Ahmet, is making a strategic move to strengthen Türkiye’s position in the global cotton industry by launching a licensed warehousing investment in Şanlıurfa. The company aims to support both the agricultural sector and the regional economy with a newly planned warehouse that will have a 5,000-ton capacity.

One of the leading companies in Türkiye’s agricultural commodities market, DCT Trading recently obtained official approval from the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade for its licensed warehousing operations. The company has completed the establishment of DCT Group Agricultural Products Licensed Warehousing Inc., and construction of the facility in Şanlıurfa will commence soon.

With over 20 years of experience in baled cotton trading in Türkiye and global markets, DCT Trading has built a reputation for supplying cotton sourced from major production regions such as the U.S., Brazil, Greece, and Central Asian republics to textile and yarn manufacturers across China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Pakistan. This extensive global network positions the company as a leader in the sector.

Through this investment in licensed warehousing—a model crucial for sustainable agriculture—DCT Trading seeks to ensure healthy storage conditions for agricultural products and facilitate smoother trade operations.

“Our Global Strength Will Grow”
DCT Trading Chairman Levent Sadık Ahmet highlighted the significance of the project:

“Our warehouse will not only store our own cotton but also products from local farmers and ginning factories. We will provide services that meet international quality standards. This investment plays a critical role in our export-focused growth strategy and in ensuring consistent quality and technical support for local yarn producers.”

Protecting Farmers from Price Volatility
Ahmet emphasized that the licensed warehousing model would be a major asset for both the Turkish economy and cotton producers in Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, and surrounding provinces:

“We view licensed warehousing as a guarantee for stability in agricultural product markets. It allows for proper storage and easier trading of goods. Thanks to this model, producers will have the option to store their cotton safely and wait for more favorable pricing, helping them avoid selling during low-price periods.”
“With our Şanlıurfa facility, farmers will benefit from secure, insured, and modern storage conditions. Their products will retain value, sell at fair prices, and risks will be minimized. Moreover, leveraging DCT Trading’s global market knowledge and customer network, we can channel stored cotton directly into exports.”

Ahmet concluded by stating that the initiative would boost Türkiye’s competitiveness in cotton exports and support the development of sustainable cotton farming.
