Türkiye Women's Volleyball Team reaches the final of the European Championship

A National Women's Volleyball Team defeated the last European champion Italy 3-2 in the semifinals of the 2023 CEV European Championship and reached the final.

In the semi-final match played in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, the teams exchanged points (18-18) until the middle of the first set, but Italy's Egonu's services opened the gap by catching an important series and Italy finished the first set 25-19 ahead.

The national team started the second set well and had a 6-point (11-5) lead at the beginning of the set. Although Italy closed the gap to one point (24-23) with the effective serves it used at the end of the game, Türkiye, which did not make a mistake in the set point, completed the second set 25-23 ahead.

Italy started the third set effectively and increased the difference to 5 points (12-17) in the middle of the set. Italy, which continued its effective play on serve and block, won the third set 25-15.

In the fourth set, both teams started with mutual points and the score was tied at 14-14 in the middle of the set. The national team, which fell behind by four points (14-18) at one point, equalised at 20-20 with the points of Ebrar Karakurt and Elif Şahin. The national team played the last points well and finished the fourth set 25-22 ahead.

Although there were mutual points at the beginning of the final set, the national team, which opened the difference with the points of Vargas and Ebrar Karakurt, won the deciding set 15-6 and the match 3-2 and reached the final of the organisation.

In the final for the third time

The National Women's Volleyball Team reached the final of the European Championship for the third time.

The national team, which reached the final in 2003 and 2019, lost both of these matches and won silver medals.Türkiye, which has 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals in European championships, is only one win away from winning the gold medal in the organisation, which it participated as the number 1 in the FIVB rankings.

14th consecutive win

Türkiye won their 14th consecutive victory in official matches.

Türkiye, who won the gold medal in the FIVB Nations League and won the last 6 matches in this organisation, won all 8 matches in the European Championship.

Türkiye gave only 6 sets to its opponents in these 14 matches.

The opponent of Türkiye in the final of CEV European Championship is Serbia 

The Turkish National Women's Volleyball Team was paired with Serbia in the final of the 2023 CEV European Championship.

In the other semi-final of the organisation played at Paleis 12 Hall in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, Serbia faced the Netherlands.

Serbia, which defeated its opponent 3-1 with the scores of 25-21, 15-25, 25-22 and 25-21, became the opponent of the A National Women's Volleyball Team in the final.

The final match will be played on Sunday, 3 September.
