Road wins for AEK, PAOK and Panathinaikos
Leader Olympiakos had no problems at all against Volos, winning 3-0 in Piraeus on Saturday. Ayoub El Kaabi, Babis Kostoulas and Gelson Martins were the Reds’ scorers, the Moroccan being the top marksman in the Super League so far with 11 goals.
AEK came from behind to beat 10-man OFI 2-1 in Crete and stay joint second. The Iraklio team led with a Zisis Karahalios screamer, Harold Moukoudi equalized and Anthony Martial gave AEK all three points after a spectacular effort by Levi Garcia.
AEK is on the same level as PAOK, that won comfortably 4-1 at Panserraikos through a Jason Davidson own goal and strikes by Kiril Despodov, Abdul Baba Rahman and Shola Shoretire. Juan Salazar scored the hosts’ consolation.
Panathinaikos kept up the chase of the leaders with an Alexander Jeremejeff goal right at the end of the game with Asteras for a 1-0 road win at Tripoli.
Fifth-placed Aris returned to winning ways, downing visiting Atromitos 2-1 in Thessaloniki with goals from Hugo Mallo and Loren Moron, before Amr Warda pulled one back for the Peristeri team. However, Aris is about to replace its manager Akis Mantzios (following also the team’s midweek elimination from the Cup by AEK) with Dutch manager Van’t Schip, formerly of Ajax and Greece.
Panetolikos won 1-0 at Lamia on Sunday, via an Andrija Majdevac goal.
On Monday Athens Kallitheas hosts Levadiakos.
Olympiakos leads the table with 30 points, AEK and PAOK have 27, Panathinaikos is on 26, Aris reached 24 and Panetolikos climbed to 22.
