Drama to host the Panhellenic Weightlifting Championship 2025
The foundations for the event were laid today in a meeting yesterday by the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, with the Olympic champion and vice-president of the World Weightlifting Federation, Pyrros Dimas and the president of the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation (EOAB), Theano Zagliveri, at the headquarters of the Region in Komotini.
At the meeting, the main organizational priorities required by an event that will gather the interest of sportsmen and women from all over the country and at the same time be a pole of attraction for the fans of the sport and an opportunity to promote it were discussed.
"The Easter Macedonia and Thrace Region is always a helper in events that promote sports and the values it stands for.We are especially happy because our region was chosen for the realization of a pan-Hellenic weightlifting championship under the auspices of EOAB", noted Mr. Topsides .
The meeting was also attended by the deputy governor of Drama Michalis Mourbetidis , the mayor of Drama Georgios Papadopoulos , the mandated regional councilor for sports Stelios Ignatiadis , the deputy mayor for sports of the Municipality of Drama Panagiotis Glavopoulos , the general secretary of EOAB Filippia Kochliaridou and members of the Federation.
