Zoe Konstantopoulou’s Tour in Evros: "I will demand explanations from the Prime Minister for unfulfilled promises"
On the first day of her visit, Konstantopoulou delivered a speech at the 15th Panhellenic Conference of Bar Associations in Alexandroupoli, where she addressed issues related to justice. "At a time when trust in the justice system is rightfully shaken, when powers again seek to strangle the independence of justice, and the expectation of justice and legal protection is tested, the role of the lawyer is more valuable than ever, and their mission is sacred," she said.
The second day involved a series of meetings with various local leaders and organizations. She met with the president of the Ecological Society of Evros, Giorgos Demeridis, to discuss environmental protection and renewable energy issues, as well as the president of the Alexandroupoli Fishermen’s Association, Dimitris Sarikas, concerning violations by Turkish fishermen.
Konstantopoulou also visited the General University Hospital of Alexandroupoli, where she discussed understaffing and infrastructure issues with hospital representatives, including the secretary of EINOKYTH, Haris Stamos, and the president of the Workers' Union, Christodoulos Mendizis.
Additionally, she met with livestock farmers in Feres, promising to raise their issues in Parliament, and visited Soufli, urging local residents to visit the Parliament and pointing out that many problems remain unresolved 14 months after the 2023 fires. "I will demand explanations from the Prime Minister for this situation and why the promises made last year have not been fulfilled," she stated.
In Didymoteicho, Konstantopoulou expressed her support to the parents of Eleni Topaloudi, and in Dadia, she discussed biodiversity protection and forest restoration efforts with representatives of the Thrace Biodiversity Protection Society. Finally, in Alexandroupoli, she met with fire-affected residents of Kirki.
